# 3148 2021 Season Wrap Up There were four classes for the sectional tournaments. Two of the four top seeded won their championships. Fairport (#1) beat Pittsford (#3) 6-5 in overtime in Class A. In Class B, Thomas (#3) defeated Canandaigua (#1) 6-5 and in Class C, HF-L (#3) defeated Livonia-Avon (#1) 19-10. In Class D, Penn Yan (#1) won their twenty-fifth sectional title with a 16-2 win against Pal-Mac (#3). |

# 3049 Penn Yan Looks for Number 25 There is no doubt the Penn Yan will be looking to win their twenty-fifth Section V title this spring. The Mustangs have won every year except one since 1998. Head Coach Brian Hobart will be playing fourteen regular season games, most of which will be against Finer Lakes teams. The Mustangs will be playing as part of the Finger Lake League this year after many years as an Independent. In a "normal" year they would have scheduled tough competition in and out the Section as they would prepare for NYS tournament action, but there is no State tournaments this spring. |
# 2942 Penn Yan Advances to Face LaFayette Penn Yan came back from an early deficit to defeat Eden 8-5. Earlier in the season, the Mustangs won the matchup 14-0. Eden, who led 3-1 early in the game, played strong for four quarters and kept the game within one for much of the second half. This was the first time that Eden had advanced to the State Tournament. The Raiders were led in scoring by Sawyer Schiedel (1g-1a), Zach Smalling (1g-1a) and Quinn Harrington (1g-1a) with two points each. In the cage for Eden, Zach DeCarolis finished with 19 saves. Colton Smith led in scoring for the Mustangs with 4g-1a. |
